Grand Mills which is a part of Agthia Group PJSC, agri business division, put its confidence in Alapala Machinery by awarding it the contract for the new flour milling line. The contract involved the dismantling of the old flour milling line and the supply, erection and commissioning of a new state of the art automated milling line in the existing building with the minimum of civil works and damage to accommodate the new milling line. The new milling line was handed over running well within the stipulated time given by GM. This was carried out by a team of highly experienced supervisors and erectors from Alapala. Grand Mills has been benefited by reduction of the power and consumption, more production and less operating staff.

The new milling line has enabled Grand Mills to become a major milling company in the region well in line with its demand for high quality product standards. Agthia Group PJSC is listed in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) with its symbol “Agthia”, which in Arabic means nourishment. The majority shareholding is held by SENAAT General Holding Corporation an Abu Dhabi Government entity and the rest being held by institutional and individual investors.

The Al Wathba Mega Production and Distribution Complex project will be the new site for Agthia subsidiary Grand Mills for Flour and Feed’s new mill, with an initial project of 400 metric tons per day steel structure to be built at a cost of AED 48 to 50 million. The plant is set to begin operations in Q4 of 2011. The complex will also include a 15,000 metric tons per year frozen baked products plant expected to come online by Q2 of 2012. Future plans for the Complex include provision for a distribution and logistics center, sales and operational personnel facilities, and provision for other projects Agthia may choose to embark on. The construction contract for the first project, the flour mill, was awarded to Alapala, with Abu Dhabi Distribution Company acting as sub-contractor, Urbanism Planning Architecture Consultancy LLC as Alapala’s Architect and Engineering Consultant, and Structural Engineering Company (SEC) as Agthia’s Engineering Consultant. Construction of the grain silos will be overseen by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) and lead by Musanada.
